In 2-1 section, Prof Ju-En Chien( 簡汝恩 老師 ) introduce the selflessness, which are the five aggregates, Form, Feeling, Ideation, Volition, Consciousness. In Sanskrit called “skandha”, Prof Ju-En mentions the Samyukta Agama, Yogacara school, there will explain more detail in next sections, and how Vikalpa(Discrimination 了別) works.
2-2 section, Prof Ju-En explain more detail about how rūpa (Form 色), vedana(Feeling 受), samjna(Ideation 想), sanskara(Volition 行),vijnana (Consciousness 識), these five skandha how to interactive together, and how to understand the selflessness.
2-3 section, Prof Ju-En explain the four elements such as earth, water, fire, wind, and so called kasiņas (all places 遍處). Prof Ju-En and then explain more detail about selflessness, and the benefits of deconstructing self, also the basic concept of Nirvana(涅槃)
2-4 section, Prof Ju-En explains four afflictions based on the view of having a self. How suffering happens due to the view of self. Prof Ju-En utilize master Vasubandhu’s Trimsika (the thirty verses 唯識三十頌), how it explains the self and view. What are ātma-sneha (self attachment 我愛), Vikalpa (conceptualization 分別), and how they interactive.
2-5 section, Prof Ju-En explain more detail about Vikalpa (conceptualization 了別), how habitual tendency happened. Sarvāstivāda school’s theory about Vikalpa and going to detail about the different style of Vikalpa, such as Svabhāva-vikalpa(Essential nature 自性分別), Abhinirūpanā-vikalpa(Conceptualization 計度分別), Anusmaraņa-vikalpa(Recollection 隨念分別). And the process of these three. And the relationship between discrimination Vikalpa and attachment to the self.
